The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently listed Berkley Manor Care Center in Denver as a five-star facility.
The CMS ratings system is designed to assist the public in choosing care for their loved ones. It calculates the ratings based on results of health inspections, staffing and quality measures (including pain management, pressure ulcers, weight loss and number of medications used).
"Our focus on the patient and family experience has been the core operating principle of the service and care we provide," said Robert Baker, executive director. "For example, we meet with patients and families within 48 hours of admission to set goals, review expectations and service requests. We establish and maintain an open line of communication among the patient, family and leadership team."
Baker pointed to his strong leadership team as another reason for the building's high score.
"Our director of nursing, Kristin Robbins, and director of rehab services, Erin Beck, set the bar high for the level of care that is delivered," he added.
Beth Williams, vice president of parent company Life Care Centers of America's Rocky Mountain Region, added her perspective as well.
"Robert Baker and Kristin Robbins are what make this team dynamic," Williams said. "They are both incredibly dedicated to their residents and patients and all customers, including their staff."
